Mr James Sexton, an old Stratford resident, and now of Auckland, is ; paying a visit to. Stratford.
Sergeant-Major Bezar, who served in the Taranaki War and also in Crimea and India with the 5/ th llegiment is revisiting New Plymouth, after an absence of 50 years, says the News.
The following have been appointed medical inspectors of schools: —Ada Gertrude Paterson, M. 8., Bachelor of Surgery; Elizabeth Catherine Gunn, M. 8., Bachelor of Surgery; George* Law Cawkwell, M. 8., Bachelor of Surgery; Walter Kerr Hislop, M. 8., Bachelor of Surgery.
Mr Felix McGuire, ex-M.H.R., for Hawera, is leaving Taranaki shortly to take up his residence in Auckland, where he has large property interests. He has just disposed of his homestead, “Mount Royal,” Okaiawa, to Mr J. H. Sellars.
Obituary: William Ayerst Ingram, artist, aetat 58. Deceased was of Scotch parentage and was intended for commercial pursuits, but decided to follow art late in life. He took part in the formation of the AngloAustralian Society of Artists in 1880, and in 1888 occupied the position of president. He was a much-travelled man, and held two exhibitions of his works, examples of which are to be seen, amongst others, in the public gallery in Dunedin.
Mr Edward E. Hancock, who is to 1)3 married shortly, was the recipient on Thursday evening of a presentation from his fellow-employees on Mr N. J. King’s staff. Mr G. Burgess, foreman, after wishing Mr Hancock cyery future success and prosperity, presented him with a handsome liqueur stand. Mr Hancock suitably responded.
The death of Colonel Charles Meeting at the age of 73,; is announced from London. The Colonel’s estate was valued at over one million. He was twice married, the second time, in 1907, to a daughter of a French Count, aged 22. He bequeathed his wife £II,OOO annually. The Colonel’s fortune was derived from his lather, who was the founder of a drapery and furnishing business, now known as Thomas Wallis, High Holborn. ;il . C :
