NEWTON KING’S WEEKLY STRATFORD REPORT.
At the Haymarket on Saturday last I had a full yarding of pigs, chiefly weaners. There was a large attendance. The enquiry for pigs, was chiefly confined to good and forward stores, small pigs being hard to quit. I quote slips and weaners 4s 6d to 9s, small stores 14s to £1 Is, good do. £1 I6s to £1 18s, sows £1 18s 6d to £2 7s, gig £7, At the Mart.—Poultry: Hens Is Id to Is 6d, pullets 2s Id, roosters Is Id to Is 7d, ducks Is 5d to Is 7d, turkeys 6s to 6s 6d. Potatoes 6s to 8s cwt. Fruit: About 700 cases came to hand during the week and were sold according to size of cases and quality j peaches 2s to 4s 6d, plums 2s 9d to 4s, apples Is 9d to ss, grapes Is 6d to 4s tomatoes Is to 4s, quinces 3s Od to 4s.
