THE HON. W. F. MASSEY.
OX TOUR IX THE SOUTH
(Per Press Association.) Timaru, March 18,
The Prime Minister spent most of to-day in a motor car. Leaving Temuka. early this morning, he came to Timaru, where the party, in eight cars, went south, first to Little Pareora Valley to see the country where the branch railway is desired, then down: to Otaio and Makikihr to the main road, thence to Morven and up the Waitaki Valley to Redcliffe, and through the upper Waikakotu settlement and the Waihorunga, Douglas, and Allan Holme settlements to Waimate, where they dined, and where Mr Massey will give an address this evening.
One deputation pointed to him that the Timaunga extension settlement was a failure, as the rente fixed were too high, and the Timaunga settlers, asked for a reduction. To-morrow Mr Massey will visit Timaru, open the Boys’ High School, and attend a social in the evening.
