An interesting event was solemnised at the Primitive Methodist Churcii this afternoon, \Vhen Miss Bertha Evelyn Rogers, daughter of Mr William Rogers, of Pembroke Road, and a member of the'Taranaki Education 'and Hospital Boards, and also of the Stratford County Council, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Mr Charles Vincent West, son of Mr Walter West, late of Tariki. The Rev. B. Metson was the officiating clergyman. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a white erepolino voile robe, trimmed with silk lace and satin bands with touches of pale pink. 'I Jic bride was attended' by Miss Joyce Pepperill, as bridesmaid, who was gowned in an apricot voile dress, trimmed with silk insertion and silk niching. Misses Vera Mapp and Mona West acted as flower girls, attired in pale blue uinon frocks with white silk hats. Mr Leslie West acted as best man. The bridosgroom’s present to the bride was a gold link bracelet set with amethysts; to the bridesmaids a gold cross, set with pearls; while tlie flower girls were the recipients of unique little gold brooches. The happy couple left by the 3 o’clock train for Auckland and Rotorua, where the honeymoon will be spent.

Mr OeorgC McLeod, one of the oldest residents of Palmerston, sued the Standard Insurance Company for £IOO. The facts were that the policy had been in existence since 1887, that the place was destroyed by fire in September, 1911, but the plaintiff had failed to notify the company that it was unoccupied for some months' previous to the (ire.
