London, March 18

Mr L. Harcourt (Secretary of State for the Colonies), in reply to a question, said he was in communication with the Governor of Fiji regarding the frequency of murders, which were duo to marital jealousy arising out of the inadequate number of women under indentured immigration. The Governor said there was no grounds for commuting the four recent sentences.

Mr Harcourt said he did not thin a special inquiry was necessary.
