Sir John Ramsden sued the Daily News for alleging that be was a bad landlord; that be had shut down bis furnaces to prevent the fumes killing bis park trees, and bad made Brotherton a derelict village, and that lie charged excessive prices for the land, filching tho land from the highway. The judge allowed the plaintiff an apology, and commented on the endeavour of the paper to render Sir John’s residence in the neighbourhood impossible.
