FIRE.

PRIVATE HOTEL DESTROYED

Dunedin, March 14

, At 11 o’clock last night a fire broke out in the Royal Hotel at Milton, owned and ocupied by Patrick Laffey. The building contained about 20 rooms but the only tenants were Mr and Mrs Laffey and members of their family. The outbreak occurred in the rear portion of the premises. The occupiers escaped, but nothing was saved, the building being completely destroyed. The house was insured, but the amount is unknown. TOTAL DESTRUCTION OF DWELLING HOUSE. Taihape, March 15. Between nine and ten o’clock last right, a fire destroyed a house at Winiata ocupiecd by A. Bosher, and owned by Mrs Bennett. Tho family, were absent at the picture show, in Taihape. The contents were totally destroyed. The origin of the fire is a mystery. The insurances on the building are: £l5O, furniture, £l5O, both in tho Sun. An inquiry will probably bo held.
