Le Temps, commenting on Mr .Lsquith’s statement, remarks that if France cannot count on the active co-operation of Britain, spontaneously offered in 1905, 1908, and 1911, that is an additional reason for augmenting her forces. M. Jaures suggests that as France and Germany do not intend aggressiveness an entente between England. France, and Germany would guarantee the peace of the world. THE ANTI-FRENCH CAMPAIGN. Berlin, March 13. The Government has issued a Note dissociating itself from the violent press campaign against France. It declares that the army’s increase is not directed against the Republic, but has been inspired by a desire to be ready for any attack. Meantime, the polemic continues to rage in Pans and Berlin.
