SPORTING NOTES. (By Cicero.) The Autumn Meeting or the Napier Park Racing Club will open tomorrow, and judging by/the large acceptances, some really good racing should eventuate. The field engaged in the Omaranui Hurdles arc very moderate. Prince Eddie nnd.Rpndaleru will probably bo best backed. A very large number have cried content in the Esk including Ca-» her Davon (who is a really good horse), and The Great Mogal. Thirteen figure in the Cup, a handicap worth £4OO. Labor Day heading the list with 8.13 opposite her name. She is a class above those opposed to her, but may bo reserved for the Great Autumn, to bo decided a fortnight hence. Haskavne showed very consistent form at the New Zealand Cup meeting, but lias been off the scene since, and will probably want ,a race or two. Multipl yis at a short price, with “double” layers, but may prefer a shorter course. Birklino ran well at the Gisborne meeting, but will meet a better class of horse tomorrow. Obligant ran well at Wanganui, but was not supported by bis party. This is a very fair horse, and will carry a. lot of “bullion” to-

morrow. Ariom won the event last year, and is expected to do the same to-morrow, by those “in the know.” Cheddar ran well at Wanganui for ten furlongs, but evidently lie is not the horse he was. Mangaroa is greatly fancied by the Hawke’s Bay sports, but so far has shown no form this season. Vi, at 6.9, cannot complain on the score of handicap. Labor Day (should she start), Ariom and Obligant, will probably carry most money. The names of New Guinea and The Summit appear in, the Trial Hack. Soltano and Tatterley stand right out in a class by themselves, but are opposed by a crowd of moderates in the Sapling Stakes. No less than eighteen have accepted for the Redcliffe Welter. Lockwood showed a great burst of speed at Wanganui, and will be ridden by Ollivcr to-morrow. The name of Bobrikoff appears in the Flying, in which event he has the “steadier” of 10.6. Eocene (7.4) showed pace at Wanganui, as did Our Queen at Dannevirkc,
