NOTES AND MEMORANDA.

The Cash Tailoring Company publish a notice to the ladies of Stratford in their space elsewhere. On Friday next, March 14th, Mr Newton King sells 300 head of mixed cattle at Kaponga. The Public Works Department invites tenders for the erection of a stock inspector’s residence at Opunake. Tenders are invited for the erection •f public buildings in Stratford for the Public Works Department. In to-day’s issue, Messrs. Masters and Son draw attention to the most prominent buildings where Golden Bay Cement has been used. The list speaks for itself, showing the hold this line cement has on the Taranaki market. They have built a specially-lined store, and carry sufficient stocks to cope with the ever increasing demand. The mechanical washing of dishes, silverware, glassware, etc., etc., is the latest thing in labour-saving devices, and the invention, moreover, is not the exclusive property of the “pampered rich,” but is within the reach of every householder. The “Kitchenette,” which is the name of the machine recently imported by the Taranaki Hardware Company, will wash, rince, dry, and sterilise the household crockery of the average sized family in five minutes. The machine is compact and portable, and the principal feature of the invention is a pump which forces the hot water against the articles with a lateral spray. After a few times using the dishes can, it is claimed, be placed in the machine and taken out as quickly as they can be picked up from a table or placed on a shelf. The “Kitchenette” is on view locally at 'the premises of the Taranaki Hardware Company.
