THE NEW ZEALAND LOAN AND | MERCANTILE CO.’S REPORT. | (Per Press Associationo Wellington, February 27. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram i from their London house under date | 26th instant: — Wheat.—We have sold n Australian parcel at 38s c.i.f. The market is quiet but steady owing to heavy arrivals, and the outlook is uncertain. Sheepskins.—The market is unchanged. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantlo Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford Branch, report as follows: — On Monday, 24th inst., we held our Annual Stratford Sheep and Ham Fair, when there was a small yarding of about 2000 sheep. Prices were about on a par with previous sale nrices, and most lines were disposed of at the following prices:—Cull lambs 6s 6d to "s Id, wether lambs up to 9s Id, mixed lambs up to 8s 6d, 2tooth ewes 10s Cd to 15s 2d, f.m. ewes 9s 3d, mixed wethers 12s Cd, 4-tooth Romney rams 2 guineas. On Tuesday, 25th inst., wo held our usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards, when there was a fair yarding of about 180 head of cattle. There is still a good demand for weaners of all sorts. W o quote as follows:—Poor colored steers 235, mixed weaners 27s Cd to 38s, good Shorthorn steers 37s 6(1 to 41s 6d, good colored heifers up to 565, 18months steers 63s to 77s 6d 18-months empty heifers 67 to 755, 18-months heifers in, calf |os 6d to 955, heifers in calf 68s Cd to 9os, old bullocks 120 s to 126 s 6d, store cows 60s to 77s Od, forward cows 90s to 105 s, fat cows up to 1475, bulls up to 110 s. We also sold a small line of 5-year-old ewes at 8s Gd. On Wednesday, 23th inst., we held a sheep fair in Messrs. Malone and Worthington’s yards, at Pnniwhakau. There was a small yarding owing to recent rains preventing mustering, | but nearly everything was sold at the j following prices:—lambs; Culls 6s 9d, j mixed, up to 8s Cd, 2-tooth ewes 12s j 6d to 1 Is, f.m. ewes 8s 3d to 11s 3d, j f.f.m. ewes 10s Id, 2 and -I-tooth l wethers 1 Is 5d to 15s 2d, 1-tootn j wethers 15s 10d, dock rams Jgn up to U^ns, MATTHEWS, BENNETT AND CO.’S REPORT. Matthews, Bennett and Co. report that there was a yarding of about 10001 isheep at their Tarata fair on Saturday last. Bidding was good ami nearly everything was sold at the following prices:—Old ewes *M to : 7s 6d, f.m. ewe*? 8s to I Is 6d ,2-looth j ewes 13s to 13s Cd, 2-tooth wethers' 12s to life 4d, cull lambs 5s Cd to 6s lid, good rape iambs Ss 4d to 10s.
Id, rams 15s to £2 2s, old cull ranis 7s 6d to 10s. At the Inglewood cattle sale on Wednesday there was a good yarding of slice]) and cattle. Late prices were maintained and mostly sold as follows: Calves £1 os to £1 18s, empty heifers £4 to £.'!
