TARANAKI AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
OPENED TO-DAY. Tho first autumn show to be held under the auspices of the Taranaki Agricultural Society was opened on the racecourse, New Plymouth, to-day. The wisdom ol the society in deciding to change the dates of its show has been fully borne out by the entries received, the total number of which is far and away ahead of any perviously received. It is the largest exhibition ever held within this province, and in one or two sections, notably cattle, the largest ever seen in New Zealand. It is particularly gratifying to see the increased interest that is being manifested in the society’s show by breeders and exhibitors, and it is to lie hoped that both the town and country people will turn out in force to-morrow so that the attendance too shall constitute a record. They will find plenty to interest them. In all the live stock sections the exhibits include many of the most noted winners and those who are not specially attracted to the show to see the cattle, sheep, dogs, etc., will find entertainment in witnessing the long list of ring competitions that has been arranged. The arrangements are well-nigh perfect, and with every indication of the climate conditions being favorable there is reason to believe that the first autumn show will ho a pronounced success. Special trains have been arranged for the corvm.ie’ice of '• •..rl-y visitor;.
