The Senate refuses to confirm any diplomatic appointments recommended by President Taft. Mr Irwin Laughlin was recommended by Britain for the Ambassadorial secretaryship. He is not appointed, the affairs of the Embassy will devolve on Mr Hallctt Johnson, who is only 24 years of age,' and only recently left college.
