A specially constituted tribunal, consisting of the Chief Justice and three judges, has commenced the hearing of an injunction application on behalf of j the Citizens’ Committee in connection with the alleged eviction of the Gov-| ernor-General and the taking over of Government House by the State Government. The case bristles with technical difficulties. The main question I involved is whether the Government has power to occupy a property for State purposes which it is claimed has been dedicated as a residence for the King’s representative. Counsel for the Government raised the point that, though used as a residence for the Governor, there was actually no dedication for that purpose. The proceedings are likely to be protracted.
