In the swimming championships of Australia the hundred yards resulted: E. Wickham 1, Barry 2, Lougworth 3. lime, 59 seconds. The three-quarters of a mile race resulted: Longworth 1, Smith 2, Springfield 3. Time, 18min. 36sec.

There was an exciting finish in the 100 yards race. Barry’s hand shot beneath the rope first, before his head touched. Wickham got home from Longworth with an easy win in the longer race. LADIES’ STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. Sydney, February 22. The Ladies’ 330yds State Swimming Championship was won by Fanny Durack, beating the world’s record by 13 2-ssec. Time, 4min 12sec. The former record was held by Daisy Curwen, England. 48 THE WELLINGTON CARNIVAL. (Per, Press Association.) Wellington, February 23. The Wellington Amateur Swimming Club’s Carnival, the Provincial 220 yds Championship was won by R. Healy in 2min 44 l-ssec. B. C. Freyl berg was second, close up. The schools relay race for the Duthie Cup fell to the holders, Clyde Quay School. The 440yds event went to K. D. Russell, with W. G. Morpeth second. Time, ■7ui in 10 4-ssec. CYCLING. SIX-DAYS’ RACE. (Received 9.25 a m.) Melbourne, February 24. The six-days’ cycling contest started at midnight, thirteen teams competing.
