TARANAKI AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.

RECORD LIVESTOCK EN'UUES. Tho great attraction this week will undoubtedly bo the Taranaki Autumn Show, which is to be bold at .New Plymouth on Wednesday and Thursday next. Tho changing of the dates from the Spring to tho Autumn have proved a great success, and farmers and others will have the opportunity of seeing tho great gathering of livestock from all parts of Now Zealand. The entries' in tho Ayrshire, Jersey and Holstein sections are tho largest ever yet entered for show competition. The fat stock section will make one of the finest displays yet seen in Taranaki, and spectators will see the promest stock from Masterton, Wanganui and Taranaki. The horse section of the Show, which is usually tho main attraction to the public generally, is well filled hr every class, and. especially so in tho jumping competitions. The sheep section is double that of last year, there being a good collection of tho main breeds suitable for this district. In the dog section com. petition is very keen, the total number bein 387. Those who are interested in the working of good sheep dogs will have the opportunity of witnessing some 15 dogs being put through a fairly severe test at 1.30 p.m. on Wednesday. A large amount of space has already been booked for agricultural implements, and those who are contemplating the installing of a milking machine will have a good selection to select from. Special train arrangements have been made for both days of the Show, and with tho public schools closed on Thursday wo are expecting to see practically tho whole of this district making a trip to New Plymouth on one or the other of the Show days.
