FIRE.
BUILDINGS GUTTED IN TAIHAPE. (Per Press Association.)' Taihape, February 21. Soon after 2 a.m. to-day, a fire broke out in the kitchen of the 'irocadero restaurant in the - main street. The ouilding was rapidly engulfed in flames, which spread to an adjoining shop temporarily occupied by Seme loff. Drapery, clothing, and boot: were in the back part of the place used as a residence by Murray (lessee). Both buildings were gutted. Tin Brigade, helped by an excellent watei supply, prevented the fire spreading to the adjoining buildings; each side of which suffered only slight damage from heat and water. The occupants: only had a few minutes in which tc escape losing all their property. Murray’s loss in corks alone was £IOO, The buildings were owned by A. Nathan. The insurances on the buildings wen £IOO on each in the Sun Office, and on Murray’s furniture £IOO in'the London, Liverpool and Globe, Fortunately there was no wind, otherwise it would have been difficult to save adjoining premises.
