The enquiry into the Stecker incident showed that it was caused by a parcel of detonators and dynamite in a waggonette. A Brisbane cablegram, dated February 5, says: August Stecker, a travelling photographer, while camped near Noogoora, was blown to ments. It is supposed the cause was accidental. The independent Arab Government in the Tripolitan hinterland has begun hostilities against the Italians with 4000 well-equipped soldiers. Two thousand have arrived before Zuaraad Jilat.
