/ LABOR MATTERS. THE CHARLESTON STRIKE. New York, February 11. Reports from Charleston state that a score of men have been killed. Following the resumption of rioting in the coal mines district a regiment of militia camped on the scene of the outbreak. The strikers sought to fire on the town, and an engagement occurred, when the militia succeeded in heading the strikers off. RAILWAYMAN'S WAGES. London, February 12. The Laborites failed to secure an amendment fixing the minimum wage at 30s weekly for adult railwaymen. THE LABOR CONFERENCE. Sydney, February 12. The Labor Conference has added a new plank to its platform, viz., that venereal diseases should be made compulsorily notifiable.
