AMUSEMENTS.
HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. His Majesty’s was crowded with the usual enthusiastic audience last evening, when the new series were presented and fresh records in admirable pictures broken. A sensational stoiy, pictured in magnificent style, Is the “Darling of the O.S.Aj,” a film which embraces three pitched battles, and is manufactured with all the thoroughness which has made the reputation of the Kalem Co. “His Life,” a Lubin masterpiece, features Miss Onne Hawley and Mr Edwin August, the company’s star actors. Such a strong cast, combined with a good story, 'telling of the neglect and subsequent penitence for home and mother a young American who strayed from his native village, could not fail to excite general interest. Nor must “Lieutenant Daring, R.N., and the ship’s Mascot” be forgotten. Everyone is familiar with the popular picture hero, and the applause showed last night that his latest effort was as' good, if not better, than his previous startling adventures. “In Swift Waters” is a beautiful picture, and the humour is very real indeed. Among the sccnics “In tlx© Gulf of Spezia” is an interesting and attractive study. “Making Walking Sticks” and the “Sulphur Industry” are industrial films that educate while they amuse, and the management is to be complimented on securing such a very desirable class of picture. The comics are screamers. “Bessie’s Dream,” “The Apache,” “Girl I left behind Me,” and Just his Luck, never has such a formidable quintette been screened at His Majesty’s. To-night this programme will be repeated for the second timo. WIRTH’S CIRCUS.
