WEATHER FORECAST.
The Government Meteorologist (Rev 0. C. Bates) telegraphed this afternoon as follows: The indications are for westerly strong winds to gale and veering by west to south after 24 hours. Heavy rain is to bo expected with rivers rising shortly. Storm appears to be approaching from the west chiefly affecting the South Island and West Coast, Barometer falling but rising after 24 hour*.
