NORTH MT. LYELL MINE.
THE COMMISSION’S REPORT. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyrights (United Press [Association.) Hobart, February 6. The report of the Royal Commission on the North Lyell disaster, on October 12, says that there is no foundation for the suggestion of incendiarism. Only one witness testified to seeing candles under the billies vvaiming tea. The commissioners consider it unsafe to rely on this uncorroborated evidence. There was no evidence of any other source from which the fire might have arisen. It might have been through carelessness. They consider that the attempt to show that it was caused by a defect in the electrical installation failed.
