Carson has published a resolution passed by the local Irishmen’s Association in Melbourne, promising that the loyalists of the dominions will not forsake Ulster. TARIFF REFORM. London, February 4. One hundred and fifty-five Radical members of the House of Commons memorialised Mr Lloyd George, hoping that he would take advantage of prosperity to reduce the present taxes on food, particularly on sugar, on the ground that they fell on the poorest and their removal would make free trade secure. THE DISESTABLISHMENT BILL. London, February 4. The House of Commons, on the report stage of the Disestablishment Bill, adopted Mr McKenna’s new clause containing a scheme of commutation of livings on a basis of 3J per cent. Mr Gladstone and others criticised the great risk of the church beinjt landed in a big loss, and suggested that commutation should be calculated on a 3 per cent, basis.
