BUR WOOD MINE TROUBLE. (Received 10.5 a.m.) Sydney, February 5. The Burwood mine wheelers resume, pending consideration of their claims under the Arbitration Act. The Employers’ Federation consequently granted the miners their request for a conference. The miners abandoned the aggregate meeting. It is reported that some of the Burwood u iners are opposed to resuming unless the wheelers join the Employees’ Federation. If such a condition is forced upon the wheelers, it will cause a hitch—an unanticipated hitch—as the result of connection with flie Burwood, apprehension has been caused by the stoppage of the Pelan Main, where a disagreement with the clippers was no sooner settled than trouble arose with the borers and the colliery became idle. Twenty-nine delegates, representing nine factories, met at Eketahuna yesterday and decided to form a Bush Districts’ Cheese Factories’ Association, for the benefit of the industry. Matters covered by the discussion were joining Employers’ Association, purchasing farmers’ supplies in bulk, carriage of cheese on railways in insulated vans instead of trucks covered by tarpaulins, regulation of local prices, weekly instead of fortnightly Homo shipments, opening up of outside markets, iqethod of weighing, and Home sales, freights, more extended account of sales. A further conference is to adopt a constitution.
