SLAUGHTERMEN’S STRIKE
THE POSITION AT GTSBOiLNE. (Per Association.) Gisborne, January 28. The chairman of directors or rue Gisborne Sheep Farmers’ Company announces that the works will be kept open after the 31st, when the local slaughtering award expires. The men in employment will have the first offer to work, and the positions will bo guaranteed till the end of the season, June, 1916. Free labour will be adequately paid until it becomes efficient. ANOTHER CONFERENCE. Wellington, January 28. Another conference with the meat companies, convened by Sir George Clifford, meets in Wellington on Friday in connection with the slaughtermen’s dispute. The Slaughtermen’s Union has opened negotiations with l several smaller North Island companies.
