RECORD CLUB SWINGING. (Per Press Association.) Wairoa, January 27. At nine o’clock on Saturday night, Captain Bax broke the world’s record for endurance in club swinging, put up by Dobrello, at Maryborough, of 120 hours. Bax continued swinging for 120 Jiours 18| minutes, when the committee decided that the contest was ended, when he dropped one club. He went on for half an hour longer in fancy swinging to prove that he was not distressed by the long vigil. The Mayor was present and declared Bax the' world’s champion amid loud cheering. OUR WIRELESS SYSTEM. Invercargill, January 27. Referring to Australian wireless and the recent litigation, the Hon. W. F raser (Postmaster-General) remarked: “We are using a system which had been assigned us by our wireless exports. The Commonwealth does not admit that Marconi or any other company operating in Europe holds all rights above ground.” ■Mr Fraser added that the Commonwealth was clear of any other existing system. OBITUARY. Dunedin, January 27. Obituary: Sergeant-Major Angus McKay, aged 85, who was a Crimean and Maori war veteran, and was several times mentioned in despatches. For seventeen years he was a drill instructor, and mounted all the big guns in and around the district.
