The ‘Frankfurter‘Zeitung’ says that the German Army Bill will provide for the training of alt fit for service, heretofore rejected as superfluous. This ■will largely increase the army’s peacestrength. A message from Washington states that Mr. W. C. Sickel, vice-president of the Hamburg-Amerika Company, has admitted that a shipping combine is being formed. The Clearing House Committee of the Transatlantic lines has agreed not to compete with European ports. The rates from America will be adjusted on a common level, according to the agreement pftevailing between the companies. To prevent unauthorised experiments, Dr. Friedmann has placed his tuberculosis cure at the disposal of the Public Health Department, says a Berlin cable. Four valuable pictures which were stolen from the National Art Gallery have been tracked by pieces, and a man has been arrested.
