Mr Evelyn Wrench, organiser for the Overseas Club, will, during the next few weeks, visit various inland towns in the North Island. Mr A. Trimble’s many friends will regret to hear that he is under the necessity of going to Dunedin to consult Dr Ferguson for eye trouble. The Eight Hon. W. 0. Ellison-Mac-artney, Governor-Designate of Tasmania ,has been created a Knight Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George. Miss M. J. Macaulay, M.A., of Dunedin, has been appointed first assistant mistress of the Ashburton High School. Miss Macaulay has been on the staff of the Balclutha High School. Colonel Sir W. H. Manning, Governor of Nyassaland, has been appointed Governor of Jamaica, in succession to Sir Sydney Olivier, who lias been appointed Permanent Secretary for Agriculture. The Right Hon. Sir Francis Leveson Bertie, British Ambassador at Paris, presented King George’s congratulations to the new President, and said His Majesty was convinced of a continuance of the cordial friendship uniting the two nations, while the Prince of Wales also expressed his pleasure and good wishes. |
