JEWELLERY ROBBERY

During the night a daring robbery Occtltrbd at Lainbton Quay. A plateglass window in the shop of Samuel Ross, a jeweller,, was broken, and a quantity of jewellery stolen, the value of which is not ascertainable. UNIVERSITY SENATE. ■■A. mi, Auckland, jirtuaty 22. The University Senate has referred to the Medical Committee a motion that the medical students be permitted tb attend at either Christchurch, W'ellihgtbn or Auckland hospitals to acquire further clinical experience. It was resolved that, owing to the importance of massage in the treatment of certain diseases, the Senate would approve of the Otago University grahtihg certificates of proficiency in massage.

CRICKET.

The cricket match, South Melbourne v. Wellington Wednesday Players, was resumed at noon. The wicket was dead. Blamires and Gourley took the score to 100, but shortly after Blamires was caught in the slips off Scott George was clean bowled after making 12, and Gourlay was bowled by Kyle lor a similar total. At the luncheon adjournment the score was eight for 133.

WELLINGTON’S ANNIVERSARY

Wellington, January 22

The Anniversary Day celebrations were held in fine weather, though it was gloudy at times, Rain fell heavily during the night. The Old Settlers’ sports were largely attended, as also were the races at Trentham, the South Melbourne-Wellington cricket match and sports at Worser Bay and Seatoun, and the regatta at Petone. The Maori took 400 excursionists to Picton.
