Jennings, the cricketer, who was a passenger of the Orvieto, questioned regarding Mayne’s criticisms of English umpiring, had no comments io make. He added that sometimes far too much was said about such matters. It was far better to remain silent.

WEDNESDAY REPRESENTATIVES
(United Press Association.) Wellington, January 21
South Melbourne commenced the final match of their tour to-day, meeting, the Wellington Wednesday representatives. Rain interfered with play twice during the afternoon, an hour’s adjournment being taken on one occasion. At 4.45 it was decided to abandon play for the day, the score standing at 91 for four wickets (Wilson 19, McGill 23). At 4.30 it was decided to abandon play for the day. The score then stood, Wellington four for 91 ((Wilson 19, Blamires not out 36, McGill 23). The match will be resumed to-morrow. The World’s Best. According to Clem Hill the best possible team available to-day would be;— V. T. Trumper (batsman). W. Bardsley (batsman). G. G. Macartney (batsman and bowler).
