Archdeacon Harper moved that a social service committee be set up for the province. An amendment that the question be referred to a special committee to report was carried. On the motion of Archdeacon Harper it was decided to recommend the diocesan synod to appoint a military affairs committee to assist the bishop in all church matters relating to Territorial camps and military affairs.
Archdeacon Grace moved that the time has arrived when the Maori section of the church should have representation on the General Synod of members, clerical and lay, elected from among the Maori people. After a long discussion it was decided to proceed with the next business. Speakers expressed sympathy with the idea of Maori representation, but pointed out that the Maoris were eligible for the General Synod at present, and did not desire separate treatment.
