MAN DECAPITATED.

LIFT FATALITY

Perth, January 10

Mr. David S. Carlton, formerly of the Customs Office,' hut latterly a professional artist and literateur, was the victim of a sensational lift fatality today.

Carlton had engaged rooms in a new six-story building in William gtreet—the loftiest establishment in Perth, The internal arrangements were not then completed. Carlton, after inspecting his rooms on the second floor, looked into the lift arrangements. He thrust his head through the panel into the well, when the cage descending. decapitated him. Though the building should not have been opened for business, the lift was working. On this occasion the bell was continuously sounded.
