RIFLE SOOTING. (By Sisley.) There was a great muster of the Stratford Rifle Club on I hursday afternoon, fifteen members put in an appearance for the first round ol Messrs Masters and Son’s Cup. Some very excellent shooting was indulged in. The conditions for shooting were very good. Rifleman C. Jaclii.m put up a score of 101 off the rilie, it being the best shoot of his life. He was closely followed by several other riflemen. The following are the tm highest scores: —

At a meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Swimming Association, held last night, representatives for the New Zealand championships were selected as follow:—100 Yards— W. E. C’ookson and C. Atkinson; 2'2C yards—C. Atkinson; 440 yards, 880 yards and one mile—C. H. H. Rich; 220 yards breast stroke, L. Poulson and C. Atkinson; 100 yards Ladies —Miss E. Fade.- All are subject to challenge.

A Life-saving Club has been formed at New Plymouth, with the following list of office bearers: —Patron, the Mayor (Mr G. W. Browne); president, Mr W. T. Jennings; vice-presi-dents, Messrs Weston, McDiarmid, Johnstone, Whittle, White, Tabor, the Hon. O. Samuel, and Mr H. Okey, M.P.; captain, Mr W. Lints; vicecaptain, Mr MacPherson; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr W. H. Fletcher; hon. instructor, Mr Jago; hon. medical officers, Drs. Fookes and Suttie; committee, Messrs P. Flanagan, S. Smith, G. Griffiths, Ainsworth, A. R. Standish, G. Tabor, E. Whittle.
