Mr A. E. Coleman, his friends will he pleased to learn, is progressing very favourably after his recent operation.
The name of the late Master Harold Hirst, the victim of the Mokau tragedy, appeared among the successful scholars at tho recent University examinations.
Dr. R. M. Beattie, superintendent of the Auckland Mental Hospital, is on a short visit to Stratford, and is staving with his brother-in-law, Mi K. *B. Anderson.
Sir Joseph Ward is to be entertained at luncheon by the Empire Parliamentary Association in the House of Commons on the 23rd instant. London cablegram.
Mr E. M. C. Harrison, who for a time was headmaster of Hawera public school, died at Northcote, Auckland, on Sunday last.
Mr Richard Hartley, of Stratfoid, who has for the past two years been in charge of Messrs Hallenstein s Boot Department, leaves on the 2ml prox. for Australia, where he hopes to gain added experience in his particular line of business.
Princess Mary will, it is said, be confirmed in St. George s Chapel a Windsor shortly after Easter. the procedure adopted in the case, of the Prince of Wales will be closely followed. The Archbishop of Canteibury is to officiate, and will have as his principal assistants the Bishop of London, the Dean of the Chapels Royal, and the Rev. Canon Edgai Sheppard, the sub-Dean of the Chapels Royal. The latter has had charge of the preliminary instruction of her Royal Highness.
