Last year there were 292 insolvencies in Victoria. The assets were £53,192 and the liabilities £104,245. THE TKOTTER MURDER. Thompson has been remanded to January 23 on a charge of murdering Trotter. Thompson underwent a sentence at Adelaide three years ago for assaulting a constable. It is stated that his finger prints were taken, and played an impor nt part r his arrest. The theory that a woman participated in the tragedy has been exploded. THE PYRMONT ROBBERY. Of five boys charged with the Pyriront Bank robbery, two have been sent to a State home, and two released o: probation, and the thirdnsentenced to a fortnight’s discipline drill A PASSENGER’S DEATH.

During the voyage of the Corinthic from London a passenger named Mrs. li Kcarton died on December 28. A DISASTROUS GALE. A gale has severely injured the fruit crops, and damage has been done to the extent of thousands of pounds.
