There was splendid com petition for merinos. Tine crossbred; were slightly in sellers favcm. Low crossbreds barely n aintained their po sition. Shabbier and coarse crossbredwere five per ce turn below the December famine prices.
Copper is irregular owing to bear sales, and is quoted at £7O 15s to £7l; electrolytic, £79. Tin, £227 10s to £225 10s.
INVERCARGILL WOOL SALES
Invercargill, January 15
The entry for the wool sale on Iri day consists of 12,860 bales, compared
v.ith 15,083 in January 1912 The decrease is due to the quantities sent to the northern sales and to the increase of private buying.

Mr. J. R. Scott, secretary of the South Island Dairy Association, state; ti.at he has received cable advice fron the agents of the Asso 'ation in London that negotiations are in progress with other importers with the objee' o t attempting to raise the home price of cheese on the market, which Mr. Scott says has been unwarranted!}' and unduly depressed Mr. Scott adds that an advance may bo oxpecte< alrnos' immediately in the Home cheese prices.
