BATHETIC SHOOTING CASE

Adelaide, December 31

On Monday, Mr. Herbert James Doman, a jam manufacturer, of East Adelaide, with his wife, his father, mother, and friends, journeyed to Strathhalbyn by motor-car for a day’s outing. They took with them a Winchester rifle and a double-barrelled breech-loading gun, which was used to shoot rabbits. Ihe party returned to Air. Roman’s, sen., house at about 6 p.m. A little before 8 o’clock Herbert Donum and his wife left for their home, which is situated a couple of hundred yards away. They went to the back door, which Airs. Roman opened. Her husband was close behind, carrying both rifle and gun, in addition to a bandolier of cartridges and some dead rabbits. Airs. Roman walked inside, and as Air. Roman was going through the doorway a fly-door flew back and struck the gun. A loud report followed, and Mrs. Roman dropped to the floor. She had received the full charge in the back, and was rendered unconscious, and died shortly after 10 o’clock.

Mrs. Roman was 27 years of age, and was wearing a wedding dress when kiHod. , The Coroner held an inquest, and a verdict of accidental death was recorded.
