WANGANUI DROWNING
FATALITY

Wanganui, .January 13,
An inquest was held to-day into the circumstances surrounding the death of J. W. Dingle, a seaman cu the scow Maroro. A verdict was returned that deceased was drowned through falling between the vessel and the wharf, W-hile under the influence of liquor.
Hastings, January 13
At the inquest on Mary Bcosey Tool, who was found dead in a bath, the medical evidence showed that deceased was suffering from grtstric catarrh and fatty 'degeneration of the heart, to which death was attributed. A verdict was returned accordingly.
ACCIDENT AT A SAWMILL
Ashburton, January 13
While cutting with a circular saw at Stavelcy, on Saturday afternoon, Robert McCullough met with a serious accident. The belting of the saw came off, and in attempting to readjust it while the machinery was in motion he got entangled. Both his legs were .fractured, and his jaw was also injured. He was brought to the county hospital, where ho was still lying in a very critical condition at 11.30 tonight.
DEATH FROM HEART DISEASE
Invercargill, January 13
The sudden death has occurred of a well-known resident of Invercargill, Thomas McCarthy, 64 years old, who was found dead in his van at Gap Road, on Sunday. It is understood that death was due to heart failure.
