The third battle squadron has been ordered to remain in the Mediterranean until the Near Eastern question is definitely settled. The flagship Indomitable will not proceed to Malta until the above squadron journeys homewards.

London, January 12

The ‘Manchester Guardian’ says that the New Zealand Prime Minister is communicating with Mr. Harcourt and the Admiralty, and that an important change in the naval policy will shortly be announced, enabling a scheme of co-operative defence for the Pacific to be brought into operation sooner than expected.
