HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, December 13
The High Commissioner, cabling from London under date December lltli, says;— Mutton.—There has been no alteration in the market last week. North Island 3|d.
Lamb.—The market is firm. A few of this season’s North Island have arrived and are realising 6fd; last season’s Canterbury 5Jd. Beef.—Th e market is quiet. New Zealand binds 3ijd, fores 3Jd. Butter.—The market is quiet, with prices slightly weaker. December imports 26,923 owts more than during the same month last year. The season continues unfavourable for sales. On account of the fine weather, Irish, English, and Continental productions are still considerable. The average price for the week for choicest New Zealand butter is 117 s. Australian Ills, Argentine lifts, Danish 12Ss, Siberian 110 s.
Cheese.—The market i« dull, with leiss demand, some holders forcing the sales. English cheese is plentiful. New Zealand 60s 6d, Canadian 625, English Cheddar 70s. Hemp.—The market is quiet hut firm. Spot Now Zealand good fair grade £33; fair grade, £Bl 10fi; forward shipment about the same price: fair current Manila, £34; forward shipment £35. The output from Manila for the week was 22,000 hales.
