RAILWAY RETURNS.
AT THE STRATFORD STATION. An interesting statement of the traffic of the local railway station and a comparison with last year, is/'lurnished in a list of figures kindly supplied by Mr J. B. Campbell, the stationmaster. For the four-weekly period, ending January 4th, 1913, there was an increase in the total revenue over a similar period last year of £217 12s, the respective totals being £2531 6s lid and £2313 14s lid. Revenue derived from outward traffic was £1731 13s lid, and from inward traffic £799 13s, the figures for last year being respectively £llBO Is and £853 13s lid. Further details last year’s figures being in brackets, are —Number of passengers 7108 16835), producing a revenue of £BB9 15s 2d (£Bl9 4s; ; outward parcels 400 (336), producing £O7 14s lid (£54 os 8d) ; outward goods, cattle 139 (50), sheep 92 (—), pigs 300 (318), wool 260 (112), firewood 42 (30), timber 7 (43), grain 522 (137). merchandise 129 (126), making a total tonnage of 963 (7681 ; inward parcels 587 (599), producing £ll9 17s 4d (£lO6 10s 2d); ipward, horses 67 (68), cattle' 66 (10), sheep— (60), pgs 9 (11), wool, chaff, etc. 103 (85), timber 102 (165), grain 389 (271), merchandise 307 (326), coal, etc. 148 (283), giving a total tonnage of 1019 (1130).
