RACING FIXTURES January 21 and 22.—Foxton Racing Club. . _ , February I.—Canterbury Jockey Club. February 5 and 6.—Egmont Racing Club. REEFTON STABLE FIRE. (Per Press Association.) Reefton, January 6. The inquiry into the fire at MacMahon’s stables on the morning of December 27th, when five racehorses were burned to death, was continued to-day. The evidence of the lessee and trainer of Comedian, in which stall the fire is supposed to have originated, disclosed little. It was stared by the trainer that he and Murfifct, a jockey, visited the stall at about 8 o’clock on Boxing night. Neither was smoking. They also gave an unknown person—passing by the name of “Reilly”—considerable information about Comedian. The inquiry is to be continued.
