MICHAEL MALONE’S DEATH.
THE INQUEST.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, January 4. 4i At the inquest on the death of Michael Malone, in the Terrace Prison, the Coroner said there was no evidence that the police did otherwise than treat the man properly from the time of his arrest till the'removal td the gaol. The prison officials did the same.
The verdict was that death resulted from hemorrhage duo to a fracture of tho skull, 'out that there was not sufficient evidence to show how the injury was received. The Coroner added that delirium tremens patients like deceased, apart from having injuries, should receive proper medical and nursing attention. No doubt the hospital authorities had good reason for refusing such cases, but there should be some place at the hospital or the gaol where such patients could receive proper treatment.
