DASHED TO DEATH. London, December 25. An aviator named Petre was attempting flight and travelling at seventy miles an hour, when the gab threatened to blow him out to sea. He made a desperate effort to regait a northerly course, hut suddenly thre-v up his hands and the aeroplane crash ed to earth. He fell into a mars! and was drowned. A THRILLING EXPERIENCE. (Received 9.0 a.m.) London, December 26. A balloonist named Penfold, parachuting from a balloon over London, from a distance of 3000 feet, dropped 500 ft. before the parachute opened. H ■ was carried three miles by a gale, hut landed safely.
