FIRES.

FIRE IN A FOUNDRY

(Per Press Association.)

Christchurch, December 22

At about 4.3 U this afternoon the fire brigade received a call to Messrs Booth, McDonald and Co.’s engineering works, at Sydenham. The fire was confined to the moulding and pattern shops, which formed part of the old building. The lire at one time looked very likely to involve the greater part of the works, but the brigade was very promptly at work, and the outbreak was localised. The damage done was not very extensive. The building was insured for £4OO in the Sun Office, and the contents for £9OO. Mr Booth estimates the damage at approximately £IOOO.
