The House is considering Bills to iepeal the sugar excise and bounty. Power is retained to put the Bills into effect upon proclamation. Mr. Tudor explained that they would he :>ioclaimed as soon as Now South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland passed legislation enacting the recommendations, of the Sugar Commission, it is estimated that the loss of revenue through the repeal will he £200,000 per annum for a few years, and will then increase to £250,000. The import duty will still remain in force.
