The Football Association and the Football League Commission of Inquiry fined the Central, Tottenham, and Hotspur players fifty pounds and Nie, the trainer, £5 for attempting to induce a Notts County player to join the Hotspurs. ATHLETICS. Wellington, December 3. At the Civil Service sports yesterday, J. E. Holmes, of the local police force, while engaged with A. McHugh in the wrestling bout, fell and broke his left arm just above the elbow. Holmes was a competitor at the 1908 Olympic Games. Bissctt, the hammerthrower, threw 132 feet 6 inches beating the Australasian record by 3 feet 7 inches. TENNIS. The Eltham and Stratford Tennis Clubs will play a match on the local club’s courts to-morrow afternoon. The teams arc:—Eltham: Mesdamcs Eggers, Bennett, Misses Carncross, Murray, Taylor and Koch; Messrs Haden, Poynter, Baker, Jenkins, Campbell, Nixon and Caverhill. Emergency, Taylor. Stratford: Mesdames Budge and Robinson; Misses Fusscll, Orb'ell, Mackay, Wake; Messrs Cameron, Anderson, Crawshaw (2), E. H. Young, Fussell, Curtis, and Thompson. BOWLING. The Stratford Bowling Club will send the following rinks to Inglewood to-morrow, to play the second match of the Banner Competition series : Munro, Reeve, Penn, Wake (s); Edgecumbe, G. Curtis, Wright, Morrison ' (s); Sanderson, Martin, McMillan, Sangster (s); Masters, J. .Brake, Black, King (s); Porritt, Fookes, McDonald, Smart (s). The team will leave by the 12.45 p.m. train. Entries for the 0. M. Curtis Trophy, handicap bowls, and beginners’ match close on Thursday. -At. a committee meeting of the Stratford Bowling Club last night, it was decided to ask the Waitara Club to play the Banner match fixed for the 19th inst., at Inglewood, instead of at Waitara. The reason for this is that the fixture is too close to Christmas, and many bowlers could not afford the whole day, which would be thp case if the match was played at Waitara. This would also depend on Inglewood agreeing. The Waitara Club has been approached.op the subject. ;)!'.)■ 1 FOOTBALL. A scheme has been discussed for holding a triangular test for the Ranfurly shield between Wellington, Taranaki, and Auckland (says the “Star”). The suggestion is that the two southern provinces should send teams to Auckland early in the next season and each play the other for the Banfurly shield. This would also prove an attraction for the official opening of the Eden Park ground, which has been, secured for the headquarters of the Rugby Union. i
