In tlio House of Commons, Air Hewins’ amendment not. allowing the Irish Parliament to give bounties was defeated by 325 to 21 |. Clause 15 was carried. Seventy amendments were not discussed. Two hours wa-s spout in divisions, leaving only an hour fpr the discussion of clauses 16 to 21.
On the motion for adjournment-, Air Kellmvay drew attention to the case of Air Arnold, the imprisoned editor.’ Mr Baker replied that Arnold had appealed to the Privy Council. The case was being expedited. If the appeal was allowed, Arnold would be liberated until the case was heard.
