INDUSTRIAL UNREST.

SLAUGHTERMEN. (Per Press Association.) Masterton, November 25. In an interview with a Wairarapa Age reporter to-night relative to t.ne threatened cessation of work by tne slaughtermen, Mr J. C. Cooper, managing d.rector of the Wellington Palmers’ Meat Company, said that the outlook was'rather serious. The men had made demands in the South Island and a conference had been held which had proved abortive. Mr Cooper does not think there will he an immediate strike, but he believes that by the cancellation of registration the men intend ceasing work when the award expires in January next. This will be the height of the season; and an immense injury will he occasioned.
