ATHLETICS.
PROPOSED VISIT OF CRACK AMERICANS. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, November 23. Mr Talbot, secretary of the Now Zealand Amateur Athletic •Association, has been advised by cable that Unmack, the well-known athletic writer in San Francisco, was prepared to bring a team of athletes to New Zealand, including Horino, Smithson, McClure and Courtenay, who will compote at all the big centres, and probably Wanganui, Timarn and Masterton. The expenses will run into over £3OO. WHO THEY ARE. With regard to the American athletic team, Mr Unmack will be manager. Horine and Richards are high jumpers; the former holds the world’s record and is the man it is wished to secure in reference to Richards, who is not quite so good. Forrest Smithson holds the world’s record for hurdles. McClure’s best distance is the half mile, but he is a good quarter mile man also. The team, therefore, is of the highest class.
